Ebensburg care home owner charged in resident's death
Thursday, June 28, 2007
EBENSBURG, Pa. - A personal care home owner was charged in the death of a disabled man who was left overnight on a hallway floor.
John R. Anthony Sr., who operates Moxham Personal Care Home in Johnstown, was charged Wednesday with involuntary manslaughter and neglect of a care-dependent person.
The victim, 47-year-old Gregory Hanks, was a formerly homeless man from Bedford County. He was known to be a heavy drinker who also took prescription medication.
"(Hanks) probably would not have died from the effects of drugs and alcohol in his system" if he had received medical treatment, Cambria County District Attorney Patrick Kiniry said.
