Telecommunications Device Distribution Program (TDDP) Fall Training
Telecommunications Device Distribution Program (TDDP) Fall Training
The Telecommunications Device Distribution Program (TDDP) provides eligible individuals who are unable to use standard phones with free adapted phones. Created through PA ACT 34-1995, the TDDP is implemented by Pennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT), a program of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University, in conjunction with the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and the PA Public Utility Commission (PUC). For more details on eligibility and available equipment, visit our website:http://disabilities.temple.edu/programs/assistive/tddp/.
This fall, Pennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology is facilitating one-day trainings across the state of Pennsylvania. There will be one training session in Pittsburgh, which will be repeated in Harrisburg and Philadelphia. The registration form is available online as a PDF and a Word Document at
http://disabilities.temple.edu/programs/assistive/tddp/training.htm.
Please contact me if you would like the document e-mailed directly to you.
Technology is available to help a wide variety of individuals be more independent. These free trainings are an opportunity to become aware of telecommunications equipment, have hands-on opportunities with the actual devices, learning how they operate and develop an understanding of how to apply to and receive equipment from TDDP. After participation in this training, you can then help us tell others about this valuable service to eligible Pennsylvanians with disabilities.
We need volunteers to assist individuals who are unable to set up their phones in their home. Together, with a network of willing volunteers across the state, we will be able to reach more individuals who need it. There is no obligation, but attendance at the training will give you the opportunity to learn about how to become a volunteer.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding this training. Please feel free to distribute this announcement to those you feel would be interested. Also, please let me know if you have a brochure that we could include on a resource table at the training in your region. Thank you for your time, and we hope to see you at one of the trainings!
Sincerely,
