Mental Health Advocate

Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania (DRN) is a private, not-for-profit organization responsible for providing protection and advocacy services to residents of the Commonwealth with disabilities. DRN has federal statutory authority to investigate incidents of abuse and neglect of individuals with mental illness. DRN advocates for services that are recovery-oriented, community-based, and person-directed. We are seeking an experienced and qualified individual for a full-time position as a Mental Health Advocate. Applicants should have extensive experience as a Mental Health Advocate, knowledge of community and institutional mental health systems as well as the criminal justice system. The person filling the position would work from our Harrisburg office and will be expected to travel state-wide. A Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to a four-year degree is required. Significant knowledge of the systems in Pennsylvania that serve and support persons with mental illness, as well as relevant state and federal laws is essential. Knowledge of computer programs including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint is required as are excellent communication, writing, and record-keeping skills.

Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS) Project Director

Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania (DRN) is a private, non-profit organization responsible for providing protection and advocacy services to Commonwealth residents with disabilities.  DRN is seeking a qualified individual for Project Director of the Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS) program.  The PABSS program provides information, advice, and advocacy to Social Security beneficiaries who want to secure, maintain or regain gainful employment.

The PABSS Project Director will be required to provide individual and systemic advocacy including legal advocacy on issues such as Social Security Disability, SSI, and employment discrimination on the basis of disability.

Community Work Incentives Coordinator (CWIC)
Transition to Employment Program

Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania (DRN) is a private, non-profit organization responsible for providing protection and advocacy services to Commonwealth residents with disabilities.

We are seeking qualified individuals for a part-time position as a Community Work Incentives Coordinator (CWIC) with the Transition to Employment Program. Community Work Incentive Coordinators are community-based benefits counselors who work directly with Social Security beneficiaries in four counties in the southeast region of Pennsylvania.

Applicants should have experience working for people with physical and sensory disabilities as well as knowledge of the disability community and its resources.

Applicants must attend Social Security training as well as pass a written examination for certification. Telephone and written communication skills are required in addition to a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a four-year degree is required. We seek a culturally diverse staff and encourage people with disabilities and minorities to apply.
