Mark Murphy

Mark J. Murphy is the Legal Director of the Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania.

Since 1987, Mr. Murphy has practiced exclusively in the area of civil rights for persons with disabilities. He has represented clients in numerous cases involving a wide range of disability law issues, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, the rights of persons in institutions, employment discrimination, guardianship and consent, and architectural barriers.

Mr. Murphy also serves as the director of the National Community Integration Legal Back-up Project, which provides technical assistance and litigation support on community integration and disability discrimination issues to attorneys throughout the United States. From 1998-2003, Mr. Murphy served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he taught classes on disability discrimination law and mental health law. In addition, Mr. Murphy lectures frequently at continuing legal education seminars and has made many presentations to consumer, family, advocacy, and professional groups on the legal rights of persons with disabilities.

Mr. Murphy received his B.A. degree and his J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
